These commands change the data behind User Graphic Images, Lines, Symbols, User Text, and User Tables — either one feature at a time in the Data Panel, or across a whole selected group at once on the Multiple Edit Specifications screen. For any of the single-feature Edit commands, no other command needs to be running — left-clicking the feature directly in the GDI Display opens its data just as well as selecting the command from the menu.

GDI Commands

Edit Multiple User Graphic Images

Applies the same data or command change to a selected group of User Graphic Images at once.

Select the Edit Multiple User Graphic Images item from the GDI Command List. If a previous selection exists, choose whether to reuse it.
At the Select First Feature prompt, left-click a User Graphic Image. It is highlighted.
At the Select Another Feature prompt, continue selecting images the same way; the GDI Prompt Line tracks the count. Right-click to finish.
On the Multiple Edit Specifications screen, either set a Model Data Items value (Set / Equal To lists) or choose a command from the Commands tab, then click Apply.
Repeat additional edits as needed, then click Close & Solve to exit and solve the model, or Close to exit without solving.

This command can be executed by selecting the Edit Multiple User Graphic Images item from the GDI Command List or by typing EDITMULTIUGIMAGE or EDITMULTIUGI on the GDI Command Line and pressing Enter.

Edit Multiple User Graphic Lines

Applies the same data or command change to a selected group of User Graphic Lines at once.

Select the Edit Multiple User Graphic Lines item from the GDI Command List. If a previous selection exists, choose whether to reuse it.
At the Select First Feature prompt, left-click a User Graphic Line. It is highlighted.
At the Select Another Feature prompt, continue selecting lines the same way; the GDI Prompt Line tracks the count. Right-click to finish.
On the Multiple Edit Specifications screen, either set a Model Data Items value (Set / Equal To lists) or choose a command from the Commands tab, then click Apply.
Repeat additional edits as needed, then click Close & Solve to exit and solve the model, or Close to exit without solving.

Edit Multiple User Graphic Symbols

Applies the same data or command change to a selected group of User Graphic Symbols at once.

Select the Edit Multiple User Graphic Symbols item from the GDI Command List. If a previous selection exists, choose whether to reuse it.
At the Select First Feature prompt, left-click a User Graphic Symbol. It is highlighted.
At the Select Another Feature prompt, continue selecting symbols the same way; the GDI Prompt Line tracks the count. Right-click to finish.
On the Multiple Edit Specifications screen, either set a Model Data Items value (Set / Equal To lists) or choose a command from the Commands tab, then click Apply.
Repeat additional edits as needed, then click Close & Solve to exit and solve the model, or Close to exit without solving.

Edit Multiple User Text

Applies the same data or command change to a selected group of User Text features at once.

Select the Edit Multiple User Text item from the GDI Command List. If a previous selection exists, choose whether to reuse it.
At the Select First Feature prompt, left-click a User Text feature. It is highlighted.
At the Select Another Feature prompt, continue selecting text features the same way; the GDI Prompt Line tracks the count. Right-click to finish.
On the Multiple Edit Specifications screen, either set a Model Data Items value (Set / Equal To lists) or choose a command from the Commands tab, then click Apply.
Repeat additional edits as needed, then click Close & Solve to exit and solve the model, or Close to exit without solving.

Edit A User Graphic Image

Displays the data values for a single User Graphic Image in the Data Panel.

Select the Edit Graphic Image item from the User Graphics – Image branch of the GDI Command Tree.
At the Select User Graphic Image prompt, left-click the image. It is highlighted and its data appears in the Data Panel.
Left-click a white cell to type or select a new value; left-click an orange (Actions) cell to run its command.
Click Apply Data Values if changes were made, or Dismiss if not.

This command can be executed by selecting the Edit User Graphic Image item from the GDI Command List or by typing EDITIMAGE or EDITI on the GDI Command Line and pressing Enter.

Edit A User Graphic Line

Displays the data values for a single User Graphic Line in the Data Panel.

Select the Edit Graphic Line item from the User Graphics – Line branch of the GDI Command Tree.
At the Select User Graphic Line prompt, left-click the line. It is highlighted and its data appears in the Data Panel.
Left-click a white cell to type or select a new value; left-click an orange (Actions) cell to run its command.
Click Apply Data Values if changes were made, or Dismiss if not.

This command can be executed by selecting the Edit User Graphic Line item from the GDI Command List or by typing EDITLINE or EDITL on the GDI Command Line and pressing Enter.

Edit A User Graphic Symbol

Displays the data values for a single User Graphic Symbol in the Data Panel.

Select the Edit Graphic Symbol item from the User Graphics – Symbol branch of the GDI Command Tree.
At the Select User Graphic Symbol prompt, left-click the symbol. It is highlighted and its data appears in the Data Panel.
Left-click a white cell to type or select a new value; left-click an orange (Actions) cell to run its command.
Click Apply Data Values if changes were made, or Dismiss if not.

This command can be executed by selecting the Edit User Graphic Symbol item from the GDI Command List or by typing EDITSYMBOL or EDITS on the GDI Command Line and pressing Enter.

Edit A User Table

Opens the User Table Editor screen to change the contents of a User Table.

Select the Edit User Table item from the GDI Command List.
At the Select A Text Item In The Associated User Table prompt, left-click a text item in the table. The table is highlighted and the User Table Editor screen is displayed.
Left-click an icon to run its command, or left-click a data cell and type a new value.
Click Close to save all changes and return to the GDI Window, or Cancel to exit without saving. If Close is clicked with unsaved changes pending, confirm whether to save them.

This command can be executed by selecting the Edit User Table item from the GDI Command List or by typing EDITTABLE on the GDI Command Line and pressing Enter.

Notes

The User Table data can be edited by left-clicking on a table in the GDI Display when no other command is running. A message will be displayed asking whether to display the User Table Editor screen; click the Yes button to display the screen or the No button to return to the GDI Window.
Unlike the other Edit commands in this family, this command opens the User Table Editor screen rather than the Data Panel; changes are only saved once Close is clicked and confirmed.

Edit User Text

Displays the data values for a single User Text feature in the Data Panel.

Select the Edit User Text item from the User Text branch of the GDI Command Tree.
At the Select User Text prompt, left-click the text feature. It is highlighted and its data appears in the Data Panel.
Left-click a white cell to type or select a new value; left-click an orange (Actions) cell to run its command.
Click Apply Data Values if changes were made, or Dismiss if not.

This command can be executed by selecting the Edit User Text item from the GDI Command List or by typing EDITTEXT or EDITT on the GDI Command Line and pressing Enter.

Notes & Considerations

For any single-feature Edit command, no other command needs to be running first — left-clicking the feature directly in the GDI Display opens its data the same as selecting the command from a menu.
On the Data Panel, white cells are editable and orange (Actions section) cells trigger a related command when clicked. No change takes effect until Apply Data Values is clicked; click Dismiss to leave without applying anything.
The four Edit Multiple commands share the same workflow: select a first feature, keep adding more (the GDI Prompt Line tracks the count), right-click to finish, then set values or run a command on the Multiple Edit Specifications screen. Multiple changes can be made to the same selection set until the Close or Close & Solve button is clicked.
To unselect a highlighted feature in a multiple-edit selection, left-click it again.
For a window or polygon multi-select, only features falling completely within the selection area are included; if the selection set includes a feature that was already highlighted, that feature is removed from the selection.
The Mass Update Routine offers an alternative way to edit multiple User Graphic Images, Lines, Symbols, or User Text.
If the Allow Undo Of Data/Graphic Changes environment option is selected, click the Undo icon to restore the last data or graphic change. To access the option, select the Options & Settings item from the Utilities menu, then select the Environment data tab.

FAQ

The pipe I clicked won’t accept a customer — why?

A message is displayed when the selected pipe cannot have customers attached (for example, because of its type or settings). Click the OK command button to return to the prompt and select a different pipe.
How do I change a customer’s data or supply main after adding it?

Left-click the customer to display its data in the Data Panel or use the Edit Customer Data command. Use Move Customer (or grips) to relocate it, Move Service Tap to slide the tap along the main, and Reassign Customer Supply Main to connect it to a different main.
How does automatic assignment decide which main to use?

The auto-assign commands connect the object to the nearest main, but only mains whose Facility Type is “Active” are considered. The Active setting can be viewed on the Facility Settings screen — select the Facility Settings item from the Edit menu.
Can a main or service line follow a bent route instead of a straight line?

Yes. Use the Add Polyline Service command to place a tap location and then a series of vertices; the last vertex entered becomes the customer location. Type “U” on the GDI Prompt Line to undo the last segment while drawing. You can later add, move, or delete line vertices with the corresponding commands.
What is the difference between a trunk and a branch customer?

A trunk customer’s service runs from the customer location to a tap on a supply main. A branch customer taps off of a trunk customer’s service line rather than a main, and is assigned to the supply main of its trunk customer. Each trunk customer can only have one branch customer.
