This article covers the eleven commands used to clear graphic flags placed by pipe find/item searches, the Data Check routine, DXF and User Text find searches, supply node flagging, and the GeoMapping location flag and tile cache — plus the one command that clears every flag in the model at once. Graphic flags simply mark features on screen — clearing one never deletes the underlying feature or changes its data.
GDI Commands
Clear All Flags
Clears every feature flag — find, item, error, and supply — from the GDI Display at once.
- With a model open, the GDI Window displayed, and at least one flag displayed, select Clear All Flags from the GDI Command List.
- All of the flags are cleared.
Also runs by typing CLEARALLFLAGS or CLEARALL on the GDI Command Line.
Notes
- Graphic flags identify model features with a specified attribute or value — for example, all customers with zero load.
- To clear just one type of flag instead of everything, use the associated “Clear Flag” command for that type.
Clear All Pipe Flags
Clears every pipe flag — find and item — from the GDI Display.
- With at least one pipe flagged in the model, select Clear All Pipe Flags from the GDI Command List.
- All of the pipe flags are cleared.
Also runs by typing CLEARALLPIPEFLAG or CLEARALLPFLAG.
Notes
- Graphic flags identify model features with a specified attribute or value, such as a specific pipe Record Number.
- To clear just one pipe’s flag instead of every pipe flag, use Clear A Pipe Flag.
Clear The Pipe Find Flag
Clears the pipe “find” flag placed by one of the Find Pipe commands.
- With one of the Find Pipe commands already run and a pipe flagged, select Clear Pipe Find Flag from the Edit Data branch of the GDI Command Tree.
- The pipe find flag is cleared.
Also runs from the GDI Command List, or by typing CLEARPIPEFINDFLAG or CLEARPFFLAG.

Clear A Pipe Flag
Clears one or more individual pipe flags from the GDI Display.
- With one of the Find Pipe or Flag Pipe commands already run and a pipe flagged, select Clear Pipe Flag from the Edit Data branch of the GDI Command Tree.
- At the Select Pipe To Clear prompt, left-click a flagged pipe. It and its flag are highlighted.
- The Select Pipe To Clear prompt remains displayed to select another flagged pipe. Right-click when finished.
- The selected pipe flag(s) are removed.

Clear Pipe Item Flags
Clears the pipe “item” flags placed by the Flag Pipes By Item Value command.
- With Flag Pipes By Item Value already run and a pipe flagged, select Clear Pipe Item Flags from the GDI Command List.
- All of the pipe item flags are cleared.
Runs by typing CLEARPIPEITEMFLAG or CLEARPIFLAG.
Notes
- Graphic flags identify model features with a specified attribute or value — for example, all pipes with a pressure drop above a maximum value.
- To clear every pipe flag at once instead, use Clear All Pipe Flags.
Clear Error Flags
Clears the Data Check “error” flags placed by the Data Check routine.
- With the Data Check routine already run and a feature flagged with an error, select Clear Error Flags from the GDI Command List.
- All of the error flags are cleared.
Runs by typing CLEARERRORFLAG or CLEARERROR.
Notes
- The Data Check routine (Utilities menu > Data Check) checks the model for possible errors, such as pipes with duplicate ID Numbers or dead-end nodes with no load. It only places these flags if Graphically Flag Items With Errors is selected on the Data Check Specifications screen.
Clear The Supply Flags
Clears the “supply” flags placed by the Flag Supply Nodes command.
- With Flag Supply Nodes already run and a node flagged, select Clear Supply Flags from the GDI Command List.
- All of the supply node flags are cleared.
Runs by typing CLEARSUPPLY or CLEARSFLAG.

- Graphic flags identify model features with a specified attribute or value — in this case, the node supply flags placed by Flag The Supply Node.
Clear The User Text Find Flag
Clears the User Text “find” flag placed by the Find User Text command.
- With Find User Text already run and a User Text feature flagged, select Clear User Text Find Flag from the User Text branch of the GDI Command Tree.
- The User Text find flag is cleared.
Also runs from the GDI Command List, or by typing CLEARTEXTFLAG or CLEARTFLAG.

Clear The DXF Find Flag
Clears the DXF text find flag placed by the Find DXF Text command.
- With Find DXF Text already run and text flagged, select Clear DXF Find Flag from the GDI Command List.
- The DXF text flag is cleared.
Runs by typing CLEARDXFFLAG or CLEARDXF.

- Graphic flags identify model features with a specified attribute or value — for example, “AVE” text found on a DXF background image.
Clear The GeoMapping Flag
Clears the geographic location flag placed by the Find A Geographic Location command.
- With Find A Geographic Location already run and a location flagged, select Clear Location Flag from the GeoMapping branch of the GDI Command Tree.
- The geographic location find flag is cleared.
Also runs by selecting Clear GeoMapping Location Flag from the GDI Command List, or by typing CLEARGEOFIND on the GDI Command Line.
Clear The GeoMapping Tiles
Clears the GeoMapping tile cache and deletes the downloaded GeoMapping tile files.
- With the GeoMapping functions turned on and a map tile type service in use, select Clear GeoMapping Tiles from the GDI Command List.
- A message may report the number of cached tile files deleted. Click OK to clear it.
Runs by typing CLEARGEOTILES.
Notes
- Some map services (such as Mapbox) provide imagery as map tiles that are downloaded and cached to the GASWorkS 11\support folder; the first request for a tile downloads and caches it, and later requests use the cached copy for faster display. If using a map tile type service, clearing the cache occasionally forces new or updated tiles to be downloaded.
Notes & Considerations
- If Allow Undo Of Data/Graphic Changes is enabled (Utilities > Options & Settings > Environment), click the Undo icon to reverse the last data or graphic change.

Do I need exact text for searching?
The Find DXF Text and Find User Text routines are not case-sensitive, but the search string must match the entire text value — to find “Main St” you must search “Main St”. To match partial text, type the term LIKE before the search value. Only the first feature matching the criteria is flagged.

Can the view automatically jump to a found feature?Yes. If the Automatically Zoom On Find graphics option is selected, the GDI Window view is centered on the flagged feature. The option is on the Graphics data tab of the Options & Settings screen in the Utilities menu.

What does Go To An XY Coordinate Location do to my view?It positions the upper-left corner of the model image at the coordinate you specify — useful for jumping to a known location. Use the Zoom Previous command to return to the last view.
